Razor Red Knife Sharpener

I was given the chance to try out Razor Red Knife Sharpener. This little gadget is wonderful. Two swipes through it and my blades were like new. My dad joked that it could cut the hair off his arms. The suction cups securely and firmly lock it to the countertop do there is no need to worry about it slipping. There is nothing to put together. The directions are simple and easy to understand. It is well made and the color is bold and vibrant. Very compact and easy to store.

Review: 2 Cane Expressions- Keep Moving, In Style!

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
I recently had the opportunity to review a can sleeve from Cane Expressions.  I apologize for the delay in posting my response. I've been in the hospital with pneumonia.

I chose the leopard print.  The sleeve is very easy to install.  You simply break your cane apart and then thread the sleeve over the cane.

The sleeves are made in the USA.

Visit their website to view their entire collection and to find a sleeve to match any outfit!

I was given the chance to review many different products made by the company Sabi.  These items could not have come at a better time.

As most of you know, I have been undergoing treatment for leukemia and a bone marrow transplant. The items they sent me to review has made life so much easier for me.

I would like to start out with my favorite item.  I have used this organizer every single day since I got it.  I have to take my medications with me every time I got to the hospital.  I am currently on 21 medications so I look like a walking pharmacy.

And now I have this......

The DAYBOX Pill Box

"The DAYBOX pill box is Sabi's largest pill box, a weekly pill organizer for medication management featuring eight pill boxes, each inscribed with the day of the week (plus one extra!) and each with three extra-spacious pill box compartments, suitable for storing a large number of large-sized pills, vitamins and supplements. Eight individual daily pill boxes clip together to form a beautiful weekly pill box and easily detach so you can tote with you one daily pill box at a time.
Each daily pill box is covered with a soft peel-back rubber lid that is easy on the hands to open and close, making loading with pills easy. Rounded compartments make extracting pills easy as well. The individual daily pill box fits well into any purse, bag or briefcase.
The DAYBOX weekly pill box makes it possible for even the heaviest pill, vitamin and supplement user to tote and take their pills in style."

All I have to do is pack up one compartment, detach it from the others, and I am good to go.

This item can be purchased here.

  The FOLIO Grande Pill Box

"The FOLIO grande pill box is our response to many customer requests for our weekly FOLIO pill box, only larger. This pill box is made for those on a heavier twice daily a.m./p.m. regimen of vitamins, supplements, or pills. Or for those who take large-sized vitamins or supplements. It is a cut above the standard 14-door pill box and is much easier to load, with one universal lid.
It’s also much easier to extract pills from the FOLIO grande pill box. With other pill organizers, it’s nearly impossible to get your fingers into the pill box compartments and it’s necessary to turn the entire pill box upside-down to shake out its contents. The FOLIO grande pill box features rounded compartments that make extraction of pills quick and easy.
The FOLIO grande pill box is also much sleeker than any of the twice-daily pill organizers out there. It fits elegantly and stylishly into purse or briefcase, and can be taken out anywhere."

What I like most about this pill box is that when its closed, it does not look like a pill box.  Most pill boxes you see have the big lettering on the outside and its obvious its medication.  When this is closed and the blue strap attached, it simply looks like a box. I think its a great design and people will be less likely to mess with your medication.

This product can be purchased here.

FOLIO strap + go weekly travel pill box

"The FOLIO pill box is made for those on a twice daily a.m./p.m. regimen of vitamins, supplements, or pills. It is a cut above the standard 14-door pill box and is much easier to load, with one universal lid. It’s also much easier to extract pills from the FOLIO pill box. With other pill organizers, it’s nearly impossible to get your fingers into the pill box compartments and it’s necessary to turn the entire pill box upside-down to shake out its contents. The FOLIO pill box features rounded compartments that make extraction of pills quick and easy. The FOLIO pill box is also much sleeker than any of the twice-daily pill organizers out there. It fits elegantly and stylishly into purse or briefcase, and can be taken out anywhere."

Same design and concept as the Grande, just in a smaller scale.

This product can be purchased here.

HOLSTER clip + go travel pill box

"The original, smaller version of our HOLSTER grande pill box, HOLSTER is a clip-and-go pill box with three slide-to-access compartments.
The average daily pill box on the market today is sterile and utilitarian-looking. We wanted to create a three-compartment daily pill box that people would be proud to use and take out anywhere, and that would transform the thrice daily pill chore into a ritual to look forward to.
The HOLSTER pill box integrates seamlessly into a busy day. It slides open with a small amount of thumb pressure and easily slides closed. Compartments hold pills of most shapes and sizes and contents are easy to remove. The HOLSTER pill box is convenient and clips to anything - a bag, a briefcase, a pocket - so that pills of all sorts, from prescription drugs and vitamins to aspirin and sleeping pills, can be accessed quickly, easily, and shamelessly - on flights, on the road, or at a trendy little café."

I have way too many pills to be able use this, but for how handy for someone who only has a few pills or have a place for pain pills.

This item can be purchased here.

TRIPOD store + go

"The TRIPOD pill box is a unique roll-open pill organizer designed to hold fish oil pills and other large pills, vitamins and supplements. Secured by an extra-strong closure, the TRIPOD pill box rolls open to expose three large compartments each covered by a hinged, clip-closed lid.
While pill box compartments are designed to hold large supplements, they also come in handy for storing objects of all shapes and sizes, from tweezers, tampons, rolls of mints, and packages of gum to glucose tablets, makeup, lip balm, eyeglass repair kit, and sewing kit – any and all small necessities you may need to take with you on the go. The TRIPOD pill box is covered in soft, supple rubber and is nice to the touch. It is easy to open and close. It fits nicely into purse backpack, or can be toted in place of a bag.
"

The best thing about this item is that it is very compact.  It folds up very tight and does not take up a lot of room.

This item can be purchased here.

SHAKE Flip-top pill box

"We wanted to create an alternative bottle-style pill box that would be more stylish and more fun to use, that would sit on bedside table or kitchen counter and be the first thing you reach for in the morning, that would help you stick to your daily vitamin or pill routine. It was an intriguing design challenge. It was important for us that the pill box cap would be easy to open and not strain the hands and wrists. It was also important to us that the pill box would only release one or two pills at a time, to reduce handling of pills and germ transfer. And so we created the SHAKE pill bottle-inspired pill box. Transfer your pills into the SHAKE pill box, close the lid, shake, open the lid and retrieve one or two pills from the tray.
The SHAKE pill box lid is inset with an expiry date dial and there’s an inset cork caddy at the bottom of the pill box so you can plug the pill box opening to ensure pills remain inside the pill box (rather than rattle around on the tray under the lid) during rough travel.
The SHAKE pill box is guaranteed to make taking your pills safer, easier, and yes - even fun!"

Very easy to use.  The expiration date and remaining amount features on the lid is a fantastic idea.

This item can be purchased here.

CARAFE Water cup with two-compartment pill box inside the cap

"It has happened to all of us. We go to take a pill but we don’t have a glass of water on hand. So we get up and walk to the kitchen or bathroom to fetch a glass of water. The CARAFE water cup and pill box in one is our answer. A combined pill box and water cup, The CARAFE water cup and pill box is handy to have around the house or office, on your bedside table or desktop.
The CARAFE water cup holds 124 ml of water and its pill box features two large compartments suitable for pills of any shape and size."

I love this because the lid screws on and keeps out dust and other nastiness that's in the air.  You can fill it with water and keep it by your bed, put the lid on it, and not worry about germs.

This item can be purchased here.

CRUSH Minimal effort pill crusher with pill box

"CRUSH is for people who don’t like taking pills or who have difficulty swallowing them and instead choose to crush medications into a powder and ingest them in food and drink.
Most pill crushers on the market require repeated twisting and untwisting to get the job done, and can be very difficult on the hands. In addition, most pill crushers out there can only crush small pills and cannot handle turning larger pills into powder. Finally, we couldn’t find one single pill crusher that doubled as a pill box. So, we created a pill crusher with real muscle that does most of the work itself and is ergonomic and easy on the hands and wrists. CRUSH quickly and effectively crushes all tablet types of all size, shape, and texture. And it’s a self-contained, all-in-one crusher-and-case. CRUSH is easy to clean and fun to use. We hope that when you use it you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how little it makes your hands work. We hope it will inspire you to take a moment to stop, listen to the snap and crunch, and appreciate the strength it takes to stay healthy."

For about two months, I was only allowed to eat clear liquids so I pretty much lived on chicken and beef broth.  I would buy the bullion cubes and have to pretty much pound them in order to warm it up.  I tried two different pill crushers and hated both of them.  I had to use so much energy in order to pound and smash those things my poor body just doesn't have yet.  I tried this one and the others went straight into the garbage can.

CHOP Minimal effort pill cutter

"Different people split pills for different reasons: some pills, especially daily vitamin supplements, are so large that they can be difficult to swallow whole. Oftentimes, pills come in only one high dosage version and you need to halve or quarter them to get a lower dose. Others split pills because it’s more cost effective, since higher-dosage pills frequently cost the same as lower-dosage ones. No matter the reason, if you split pills regularly you have likely encountered many pill splitter pitfalls. When we began to investigate the task of splitting pills we quickly realized that this seemingly trivial task is actually riddled with problem.
We wanted to create a superior pill splitter. We designed a pill splitter that can split all pills of any shape or size, cleanly, accurately, and easily. It employs a non-steel/non-razor durable plastic poly blade so it’s safe and won’t easily wear down. And you don’t have to worry about it rusting if it gets wet so it’s easy to clean. We made it adjustable to all pill types, easy to hold and press, and at the same time fun to use and beautiful to look at. We hope that when you use CHOP, you’ll get into the ritual of snapping your pills to size and use the moment to stop, breathe, and think on the importance of your health and the time you invest in ensuring your healthcare is accurate, non-wasteful and… just plain fun."

I have to take a few pills that are massive and I do have to cut them.  The pill splitter I was using was just terrible.  The blade was right in the middle, exposed.  I cut my finger several times.  I also have a slight shake (a medication side effect) and it would tend to slip.  It had slits on the bottom so every time I would cut the pill, parts of it would fall through.  I tried this pill cutter and my old one went in the trash.  I am able to hold on to it easily, the blade is covered, it does not leak, and I am not worried about cutting myself.

SPORT All-terrain, lightweight sporty cane with precision handle and tip

"SPORT takes its inspiration from those differently-abled athletes out there who take adversity in stride. For them, we designed an all-terrain, lightweight cane for those times when you need a little boost to hike that extra mile; climb that higher mountain; or camp that extra night. SPORT, Sabi ROAM Line’s lightest cane, features an ultra-comfortable handle, precision dipped in rubber coating for a smooth, secure grip that’s hygienic and easy to clean and care for. The SPORT cane has a single-piece, non-adjustable shaft made of high-strength aluminum; the same grade of aluminum used in bicycle frames. Super-durable and powder-painted, just like a bike, it offers a much more stable alternative to the adjustable cane. The cane has an air-cushioned rubber-based TIP made from the same material used in hiking boot and running shoe soles for maximum stability, smooth walking at any speed, and superior grip on the most uneven surfaces. The SPORT cane comes in eye-popping colors with a matte finish, making it a fab and fun walking companion for people on the move."

My blood pressure has been very wonky (a side effect of medication) so for safety purposes, they gave me a 4 wheeled walker with a seat so if I feel as though I am going to pass out, I can sit down.  My dad has been my caregiver and he has issues with his back and shoulder so I gave the cane to him to try out.  He would like to report that he loves it and it has helped with his pain.  He said he loves the feel and the center of gravity.  He uses it all the time now.

Review: Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I was given the opportunity to review Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops, wild cherry flavor.  Unlike other throat drops, these are soft, gummies and feel much better in your mouth when you are sick.

The flavor is very pleasant.  They do not have the fake sugary taste like other cough drops.

They are available in a bag of 32 drops or a round container of 26 drops.

Pine Brothers have been in business since 1870.  Visit their webpage at Pine Brothers and their Facebook page.

As most of you know, I am being treated for leukemia/bone marrow transplant and my insurance requires me to have a care giver at all times.  My Dad is my current caregiver and he has been having some trouble with the change of the weather coming from AL to AZ and is having really hard time with coughing.  I gave him the round container of drops so he could keep it in his back pocket.  He has stopped coughing and is amazed at how fast they worked.

Contest to resume soon!! (and some updates)

On February 15, 2014 marked the one year anniversary of my diagonals date.

It was my intention to write and document everything, but it just didn't happen.  I regret it.  I wish I would have written down all my thoughts and feelings through this whole process.

Well, so, what's up now?  I'm still at the hospital.  My body is not making its own platelets and no one can seem to figure out why.  I am having to get frequent infusions of blood and platelets. I am 100% cancer free!!!

I am in the process of doing some things to my blog and then I am going to start up my ugly jewelry contest again, so keep on the look out!  I've already got the piece picked out! Its not a great picture, because I used my cell phone, but I will have more soon.  I am very excited to start up my contest and to start blogging again.  I have missed it so much.

I don't have an estimated date as of yet when they think I will be able to go home.  Having so little platelets in my body, is very dangerous and they want to keep me close in case of a bleed.  It certainly has been a very long journey.

I am also sad to report that my husband and I separated.  This is all I am going to say on this subject.

As part of my insurance requirements, I am required to have a caregiver with me at all times.  My dad came out and spend three weeks with me and we went to the local mall to goof off and give me a much needed break.  We stumbled across a shop that sold extra, extra large version of candy.

Please note.  Between the chemo and the radiation, my hands tend to shake.  They don't know if its permanent or if it will go away just yet.  Because of this, my pictures tend to turn out blurry and out of focus.  Not much I can do about it other than hope its only temporary and will eventually stop.

I love Nerds, so when I saw this little guy, I could not resist.

I am currently on 22 medications.   I feel like a pharmacy. I have to take them three times a day.  The issue I am facing now are the co-pays.  My insurance requires me to pay 80% of name brand meds and my cancer meds only have name brand.  One med alone has a co-pay of $451.00.  I don't know how people do it.

Hang on just a little longer!  I'm going to get everything up and going again and start posting and doing contests.

Thanks to everyone who has stayed with me this long!
